This guide will show you how to set start dates for client structure items. When an item has a start date, time recordings cannot be added to it in the timesheet for dates before the start date.

Examples of When A Start Date Cannot Be Set
There are occasions when a start date cannot be set
-
The item has time recordings before the start date
The start date must be before the earliest time recording. For example, if the earliest time recording was 01/01/2026, the start date cannot be later than that date.
-
The item was created from a Template
When an item is created from a template, it cannot have a start date, because all changes to a template should be made to the template itself. The item should either have a start date set on the template, or the template should be removed from the Linked Template section to unlink it.
